- Entrance Canopy Revision – I had a discussion with
Michael about this and how the 4 columns option is absolutely unacceptable.
I asked him to be less conservative and give us the least expensive
solution. He was very clear with me that we don’t have much choice in this
at all. The only other option he said would work is if we change the
interior shear wall (the whole front of the house) to steel and use steel
panels instead of the current wood panels we have. I’m sorry Sarwono that I
don’t have an answer you want to hear. He was very firm on the fact that if
we do not support these stone columns correctly, in the case of an
earthquake the columns will either come down vertically or crash into the
house (The columns are supported horizontally but in order to support it
vertically we need to add the 4 columns or beef up the shear walls). He
stated that he’s been trying to think of another solution, but there’s just
no other way. He’s adamant about us either doing the “shear wall” option or
the “4 columns” option.
- HOA –
a.
Letter à Sent the HOA letters
to both Vladimir and Dan.
b.
Landscape à I’ve called Dan
multiple times today and did not get a hold of him yet.
c.
Chimney à As for Vladimir he
will be working on the chimney drawings to submit to the HOA by Tuesday the 2nd
(1 week before the meeting on the 9th). He will also be sending us
the chimney diagram/drawing in order for us to create the mock-up and send out
for bids. Zuli, Gino, Arturo and I all understand the urgency on this. We also
have the framer and the air duct company on standby to meet with us as soon as
we can all meet together (G, Zuli, Vladimir, and the subs) with the mock-up and
drawings ready.
d.
Site/Construction à FYI Gino
has the list of site requirements from the HOA.
- Marble Grout Repair – Need 1-2 more hours only to
complete. Tomorrow, he will be finishing the Basement and installing the 1
remaining slab in the kitchen.
- Cabinet à
The GBR crew tested the 12” drill for the puck lights and it was successful
(see Arturo’s email if you need more details). FYI the last closet in Suite
2 remains uninstalled because of the puck light issue. We are trying to fix
it before proceeding. Tomorrow they will be moving the wires slightly higher
in the Pantry (Danny from Flash said it was ok) and working on box install
for the Wok and Pantry.
- Marble honed areas were covered by drywall today by
Roger.
- Marvin Fong à
I called and told him I need the plans and CDs from him. He was not planning
on being in the office until much later today so I will be dropping by
tomorrow for them.
